Introduction
When
Liberation Magazine started in 1997 our main aim was to educate people
about how animals suffer for human health and vanity and to show them the benefits of adopting a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle.
Over the years the animal rights movement has flourished in so many ways, with hundreds of of thousands of people changing to a more compassionate lifestyle, both in the products they buy and by getting involved in the struggle for animal liberation. Our philosophy remains the same as when we started, to educate everyone on how they can really make a difference by getting involved at 'grass-roots' level.
We have heard so many stories of how people have started by changing their own attitudes and gone on to influence the attitudes of both friends and families far and wide. The power we all possess to change the world we live in cannot be underestimated.
Liberation
Magazine will always be dedicated to the liberation of the individual
and the power, we as individuals, possess.

I'm
walking through the grey walkways of the city, and through the brightly lit
shops and supermarkets, and I'm walking through the fields of the innocent,
passing by the fairytale farm, balancing on the brittle edge of a short life
that is ended by the knife. The
factorys still churning out, all processed, packed and neat. An obscure
butchered substance and the label reads "meat". Hidden behind false
names such as pork, ham, veal and beef. An eyes an eye, a lifes
a life, the now fucked up belief. Yet, everyday production lines are feeding
out this farce. To end up on your table, then shat out of your arse.
Yet,
still youre queuing, and still youre viewing. Sawing out limbs just
right for stewing. Carcasses piled up in a heap. Sort, soft, juicy chunks from
freezers deep. Well, cant you see that that juice is blood? From newborn
throats, red rivers flood. Blood from young hearts blood from the vein. Your
blood, their blood, serves the same.
Now
youre at the table, sitting, grinning. Sitting there eating, you never
realise the filling. Its served upon a sterile plate, you dont
think of the killing. The furthest your brain takes you, "is it for frying
or grilling?" You moan about the seal cull, about the whale slaughter.
But does it really matter whether it lives on land or water? Youve never
had a fur coat, you think its cruel to the mink. Well, how about the cow,
pig or sheep. Dont they make you think. Since the day that you were
you born, youve never been told the missing link?
As
I'm gazing at the baneful products. And from behind the bright colours and false
smiles. I can smell the decaying skins. Forth from the green grass. The pungent
smell of decomposing meat. That penetrates the walls of the kitchen. And from
the red lorries on the black. In unison with the red lights and the red juice.Yet,
still youre queuing, and still youre viewing. Sawing out limbs just
right for stewing.
Carcasses piled up in a heap. Sort, soft, juicy chunks from
freezers deep. Well, cant you see that that juice is blood? From newborn
throats, red rivers flood. Blood from young hearts blood from the vein. Your
blood, their blood, serves the same. The
Sunday kitchen spills out the stench of the abattoir. The butchers blade glistening
in the eye of the 'master'. The deadened life of a baby sits upon the plate.
The spilt guts falling from the chute to the basting tin. The carcass from the
car crash. In the age of the train - direct from the gates of Sobivor.
Meat
Means Murder by Conflict
It is up
to us all as responsible citizens of Earth to work towards the downfall of the
powerful elite. Their rule has created dreadful suffering. Their insanity precludes
all reason and compassion. They lie, trick and manipulate. They are the maggots
in the flesh of decency. The vultures that pick at the bones of hope. The carriers
of famine, war, pestilence and death. Why should
people die for their insanity? Why should people starve for their insanity?
Why should people suffer the spitefulness of their greed? We must not be intimidated
by the authority that they appear to have. We must be prepared to oppose them
on every level, to fight back in the knowledge that if we don't, we will have
failed in our responsibility to life itself. It has happened
before, that the powerless have risen against the oppressor only to be beaten
back. But there have been cases where they have succeeded.
Ours is a just cause,
it is up to each one of us, alone, to do our best. We must learn to overcome
our fears. We must realise that the strength that they have is the strength
that we give them.It is you,
the passive observer who has given them this power. You are being used and abused
and will be discarded as soon as they've bled what they want from you.You must
learn to live with your own conscience, your own morality, your own decision,
your own self.
You
can do it alone. There
is no authority but yourself.
