Dear Mr Viner
I am writing to ask L'Oreal to adopt a fixed cut-off date animal testing policy for all products and ingredients.
I am appalled that your company still uses animal-tested ingredients - you must know the general public revulsion surrounding the use of animals to test cosmetics.
Since 1976, the European Union has battled to outlaw such testing but the continual failure of L'Oreal and the cosmetics industry to adopt alternative non-animal testing is deplorable.
I am also writing to inform you that until L'Oreal adopt a fixed cut-off date animal testing policy, I shall be boycotting all L'Oreal products. I will also be boycotting the products made by L'Oreal subsidiary companies and the major shareholder in L'Oreal - Nestle.
It is well recognised that the fixed cut-off date policy is the most desirable option from the point of view of abolishing animal testing. This policy means that a company will refuse to use any new ingredient tested on animals after a chosen date. In this way, current and future animal data will not be employed.
Therefore, I am not prepared to give any of the L'Oreal companies any of my money from which to profit until L'Oreal and all subsidiary companies have adopted a fixed cut-off date animal testing policy.
Yours sincerely
